a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } A Patient Services Representative is responsible for welcoming patients upon arrival, promoting the use of consumeru2011friendly technologies, educating patients on copayments and financial obligations, and collecting payments when applicable. This role schedules followu2011up appointments within the continuum of care, connects patients to financial advocacy resources when appropriate, updates patient demographics and insurance information, and promotes a culture of service excellence. Patient Services Representatives display strong customer service skills to ensure that patients and family members have the desired UPMC Experience within UPMC physician practices, hospitals, and outpatient departments. Responsibilities: + Provide a warm greeting for all patients. + Guide patients through selfu2011arrival technology or perform standard desk checku2011ins based on patient preference. + Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the point of service. + Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout. + Schedule followu2011up appointments within the practice at checkout. + Schedule or connect patients to resources for ancillary services. + Help patients navigate the healthcare system by providing clear, understandable instructions. + Provide followu2011up to unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care. + Understand and apply service recovery principles to support the UPMC Experience. + Register patients in the biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits. + Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist with portal registration. + Educate patients on financial responsibilities and connect them to advocacy resources as needed. + Verify insurance benefits through online verification systems or carrier calls. + Obtain required signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility in accordance with HIPAA regulations. + Appropriately distribute or triage phone calls to other areas and/or clinical providers. + Assist with office administrative duties, including scanning medical records and faxing. + Stay informed on UPMC Patient Portal navigation to clearly guide patients and ensure continued access to health information and care services. a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } + Additional Details + Business casual dress + Onu2011site training + Onu2011site or garage parking available + Sites: McCandless, Wexford, Wexford Spine, Lemieux, Mars, Allison Park + Schedule: Daylight, Monday-Friday + Travel: Required between sites (mileage reimbursed) + High school diploma or equivalent required. + Experience with PCu2011based applications, office equipment, and typing preferred. + Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function preferred. + Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. + Experience with Medipac, Epic, or other electronic health record systems preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
