This position will lead and deliver orientation experiences for first-year students, transfer students, and parents and families in collaboration with undergraduate schools/colleges and units across the University. This will include both virtual and in-person onboarding experiences. The Associate Director will have direct supervision of the New Student Programs Coordinator with indirect supervision of graduate students and student leaders to ensure program delivery. This position will lead efforts to develop resources and communications and will lead the assessment strategy for orientation programs geared toward continuous improvement and alignment with institutional and divisional goals. Serves on and, when appropriate, leads divisional and institutional committees.Performs other duties as assigned.Job Details This position requires the following background checks: Will have access or control over financial transactions for the University or have access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This position requires working evenings and weekends for events, as needed.Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. At least four (4) years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. At least 2 to 3 years of full-time experience in orientation, transition programs or related areas working with first year students, parents, and families. Experience with digital onboarding platforms (Slate), mobile apps, and student engagement technologies (CampusESP). Budget management experience. Knowledge of student development theory and its application to transition and retention initiatives. Knowledge of higher education trends, federal and state laws and regulations, and the ability to interpret those to a broad range of audiences. Experience contributing to institutional goals related to persistence, retention, and graduation. Experience working with first-year and second-year experience programming. Experience working in a University setting with a large and diverse student population.Required Skills and Abilities Demonstrated experience designing and implementing orientation, onboarding, transition, or first-year experience programs for diverse student populations. Proven ability to manage large or small-scale events and complex logistics. Strong leadership, supervisory, and managerial skills, along with the ability to work as part of a team. Experience using assessment tools a d data analytics to evaluate program effectiveness. Ability to work in a positive, energetic, and fast-paced environment, multi-task, resolve conflicts, collaborate, and communicate effectively in writing and orally.
