Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) USACE Project Fort Sam Houston u2013 Historic Renovation Experience Level: Intermediate (2+ Years) Shortu2011Term Contract Opportunity Step into a critical leadership role on a highu2011profile U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project at Fort Sam Houston, where history meets modern construction. We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to temporarily support the project while the current SSHO is off assignment. This is a handsu2011on, onu2011site role for a safety professional who thrives in fastu2011paced construction environments and takes ownership of jobsite safety. What Youu2019ll Be Doing As the SSHO, you are the authority on site when it comes to safety. Your role is essential to protecting people, preserving history, and keeping work moving safely and efficiently. + Serve as the onu2011site safety lead for a USACE construction project + Implement, manage, and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) + Develop, review, and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) + Ensure full compliance with EM 385u20111u20111 and OSHA standards + Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and audits + Identify hazards proactively and drive immediate corrective actions + Maintain required safety documentation and reporting + Exercise full authority to stop work when unsafe conditions exist Why This Role Stands Out + Work on a historic military installation with unique renovation challenges + Direct impact u2014 you are the safety authority on site + Shortu2011term contract ideal for experienced SSHOs between projects + Gain or strengthen USACE project experience, one of the most respected environments in federal construction Required Qualifications + 2+ years of experience as a Site Safety & Health Officer or equivalent + OSHA 30 (Construction) u2013 required + Strong working knowledge of USACE projects and EM 385u20111u20111 + Construction safety experience in active jobsite environments + Confident communicator with leadership presence on site Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
