Some of what you'll be doing: There are multiple positions available for this opportunity. This is a full-year internship, with a part-time school year and a full-time summer schedule. These positions will contribute to projects and activities occurring under the scope and direction of the Aviation Operations department of a large-hub airport operated by/within a major Pacific coastal Port. Aviation Operations is responsible for the Airport's business continuity 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. Airfield Operations: The intern will be supporting the department in managing projects and programs in coordination with the FAA, Project Management, Airlines, Construction, and other internal and external stakeholders. This position works in conjunction with department experts and stakeholders from multiple disciplines, including those managing Aviation Operationsu2019 Landside and Airfield Departments. Some of your essential duties include: + Assist Airfield Managers with GSE management, Deicing improvements, and other new projects that may arise. + Assist in the FOD management program + Collect information and data both within the airport facility and outdoors, synthesize results, enter data, communicate with stakeholders in person and in writing, and create related reports + Assist in updating Letters of Agreement with FAA and other documents related to the upcoming runway renumbering project + Benchmark, data collection, and analysis for the Wildlife Mitigation Program, Federal Inspections Services program, and for common-use resources + Interns will have the opportunity to attend Sea-Tac business planning functions, intern luncheons, and various topical meetings to further their understanding of airport management + Assist the Airfield Operations team in supporting ramp operations and respective projects/programs + Receive driver training to become proficient and approved to drive solo in the non-movement area Terminal Operations: At the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Terminal Operations is vital to the day-to-day passenger travel process by providing a safe, secure, and operationally efficient facility for a positive passenger experience. Terminal Operations encompasses four major areas: the Terminal Project management, International Arrivals Facility (IAF), Airline Gate Scheduling, and overall terminal operations. The Airport Terminal Operations intern will be working with team members in each area to forward various terminal operations projects and/or routine tasks. Below are some examples of projects and routine tasks that may be required of the intern: + Assist the Terminal Operations Project Development Manager with various projects associated with terminal operations + Assist the Terminal Operations team with quality assurance inspections to identify safety, security, maintenance, and operational items in need of correction + Assist the Terminal Operations team with inventory control of Port of Seattle terminal assets + Assist the Terminal Operations team in supporting landside operations projects + Assist the Terminal Operations team in supporting international operations and respective projects + Assist the Terminal Operations team in collecting and disseminating operational data + Assist the Terminal Operations team in preparing for and presenting at meetings with stakeholders + Assist the Terminal Operations team in supporting special events throughout the terminal facilities Who you are: + A student u2013 You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or a recent graduate ( + Committed to Equity u2013 You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. You can balance and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects with little supervision. + Desired u2013 FAA pilot or 107Certification, Drone enthusiast, AutoCAD familiarization. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013 This is a full-time summer internship position (40 hours per week) and part-time (20 hours per week) during the school year. Your normal work schedule will be Monday u2013 Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule may vary based on operational needs. + Driveru2019s License u2013 Some positions will need a valid Washington State Driveru2019s License, or the ability to obtain one, in order to travel locally to project sites. + Work Environment u2013 This is an on-site position. You willgenerallywork indoors, in an office environment. However, you will also workoutdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights, and/or in confined spaces. + Limited Duration u2013 This is a limited-duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year. + Security Requirements u2013 As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. + Safety Requirements u2013 You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
