Job Summary and Qualifications I. The Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT) Psychologist plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Presbyterian/St. Lukeu2019s Medical Center by addressing the emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial needs of patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. This position expands care beyond traditional medical treatment to support the whole personu2014patients, caregivers, and familiesu2014throughout the transplant continuum. The psychologist conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments for potential transplant candidates, provides evidenceu2011based psychotherapy, and offers ongoing support before, during, and after transplant. This role also includes consultation with multidisciplinary team members, development of supportive programming, and contribution to research initiatives that advance psychosocial care in transplant and oncology populations. Key responsibilities include: Clinical Care u00b7 Conduct comprehensive psychosocial evaluations for stem cell transplant and cellular therapy candidates, assessing readiness, coping resources, and support systems. u00b7 Perform cognitive assessments to evaluate memory, attention, executive functioning, and decisionu2011making capacity when clinically indicated. Provide followu2011up evaluation, feedback, and documentation, and communicate findings to the multidisciplinary team. Identify how cognitive impairment, psychological distress, or social barriers may affect treatment adherence, safety, and overall transplant eligibility or outcomes. u00b7 Provide individual, family, and caregiver psychotherapy across the transplant trajectory (preu2011transplant, inpatient, and outpatient phases). u00b7 Deliver crisis intervention, adjustment counseling, and supportive therapy for patients experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, trauma responses, or complex medical decisionu2011making. u00b7 Offer inpatient psychological services to TCT patients as needed. u00b7 Serve as a patient and family advocate, helping them navigate the healthcare system and access appropriate resources. Interdisciplinary Collaboration u00b7 Consult with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other TCT team members regarding psychosocial needs, risk factors, and care planning. u00b7 Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute psychological expertise to treatment discussions. u00b7 Provide education to staff on behavioral health considerations in transplant and oncology care. Program Development & Support u00b7 Develop, implement, and facilitate support groups for patients and caregivers. u00b7 Create educational materials and programming to enhance patient and family coping throughout the transplant process. Research & Quality Improvement u00b7 Initiate or collaborate on research related to psychosocial aspects of transplantation and cellular therapy. u00b7 Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience and outcomes. Position Requirements: A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed in the state of Colorado . ABPP certification in clinical or health psychology preferred. B. Education: Doctoral degree in clinical psychology. C. Experience: Three years oncology experience preferred. D. Special Qualifications: This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities. The psychologist must be able to accurately assess complex information, apply critical thinking to determine appropriate courses of action, and clearly communicate recommendations to patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members. Excellent documentation skills are essential for maintaining accurate clinical records and data submissions. The position demands strict adherence to confidentiality standards, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage a high volume of clinical and administrative tasks while working independently. The psychologist should be adept at prioritizing workload, developing efficient timeu2011management strategies, anticipating challenges, and implementing effective solutions. A working knowledge of cancer care, transplant processes, and relevant federal and state regulations is required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a fastu2011paced medical environment.
