Yes Faculty Appointment Type Tenure Track Term (if applicable) 9 month Begin Date of Appointment 08/11/2025 Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function A Technical Instructor u2013 West Plains is the lowest rank for technical faculty, requiring effectiveness in teaching; a commitment to advanced studies in the field or specialized training conducted for the industry including designing and teaching classes for college credit, seminars, or training sessions for employees of an outside organization; and a willingness to serve the department, division and/or campus. The Technical Instructor u2013 West Plains teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective August 1, 2025, the Technical Instructor u2013 West Plains rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains. Description of Primary Duties Internal posting for promotion and transfer consideration of full-time regular University employees only. The Technical Instructor of Welding & Technology will utilize Lincoln Electric Education Partner Schools ( LEEPS ) Welding Certification Programs and the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) curriculum in the classroom and lab environments to prepare students to meet educational and career goals. Primary job duties and responsibilities: 1. Classroom presentation of course materials 2. Prepare lessons plans 3. Develop and modify PowerPoint presentations 4. Course Assessment. Report results to Technology Program Coordinator and NC3. 5. Prepare and direct lab training 6. Emphasize welding safety 7. Set up and maintain fabrication equipment 8. Demonstration of welding skills 9. Lead students in development of welding skill 10. Become a LEEPS /NC3 Certified Instructor 11. Follow the LEEPS /NC3 curriculum. 12. Inspect welded components according to LEEPS /NC3 standards. 13. Design programming with AutoCAD or similar Computer-Aided Design/Drafting ( CAD ) software. 14. Operate Computer Numerical Control ( CNC ) equipment; including CNC plasma table and robotic arc welder. 15. Successful candidates must be able to contribute to multiple aspects of our undergraduate program. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Technical Instructor u2013 West Plains are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook (. Education: Associate degree in welding or related field or 3-5 years of welding and fabrication industry experience. Experience: Relevant welding and fabrication experience. Experienced with SMAW , GMAW , FCAW , and GTAW processes. Experienced with Plasma Arc and Oxy Fuel cutting processes. License/Certifications: Must possess or able to obtain industry-recognized welding certifications and commit to successfully completing additional training as required. Computer skills: A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. The ability to quickly adapt to operation of software including a learning management system and NC3 Certification software is required. Other: Interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively and facilitate effective learning. Additional Qualifications The nature of teaching a technology program require the following physical requirements: u2022 Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis. u2022 Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. u2022 Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and fabrication equipment u2022 Work is performed indoors and out-of-doors, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, hot or which could have work hazards. However, maintaining a safe working environment requires diligence in cleaning and organizing on a continual basis; this must be practiced and taught as a good habit. u2022 Visual acuity to inspect welds with or without corrective lenses.
