As our Sr. Product Safety Assurance Analyst (Non-Foods), you'll vet new and existing WFM (Whole Foods Market) Private Brands non-food products, investigate supplier programs in accordance with regulatory and WFM requirements, and provide expert technical guidance for product and process development across Body Care, Supplements, Pet Food, and other categories with elevated risk and safety considerationsKey job responsibilitiesLead commercialization readiness for Private Brands non-food products, ensuring compliance with WFM quality standards and applicable regulations; partner with WFM Legal on complex regulatory requirements.- Develop chemical, microbiological, physical, and shelf-life test requirements based on supplier data, regulatory requirements, and WFM standards- Perform supplier diligence of vendor product safety plans, facility risk assessments, and quality reports - Review product claims, vendor documents, test results, and Food Safety Plans to ensure adherence to WFM Private Brands and regulatory standards - Partner with Product Developers, Supplier Quality Assurance, Team Leads, and Merchandisers to incorporate product attributes and develop CAPA plans for out-of-specification resultsProvide Strategic Program Leadership.- Advise stores, operational areas, suppliers, and executive leadership on regulatory and compliance issues specific to non-food categories - Provide expert technical consulting to develop innovative solutions for emerging product safety issues - Engage with suppliers and customers to resolve complex, business-critical product safety concerns - Monitor formulation and label reviews, identifying root causes and driving sustainable resolutionsChampion Continuous Improvement.- Drive innovation in supplier quality assessment and product verification methodologies - Lead process improvement initiatives and modernize quality systems - Develop and implement enhanced testing protocols and quality monitoring systemsA day in the lifeYour day begins reviewing supplier documentation and test results for Body Care and Supplement launches, ensuring regulatory compliance. You collaborate with Product Developers and Merchandisers on risks for a new product launch, then conduct supplier diligence calls. You partner with WFM Legal on labeling claims and investigate out-of-specification results, developing CAPA plans with Supplier Quality Assurance. You advise leadership on regulatory changes and review Food Safety Plans. You solve critical problems: ensuring compliance, preventing safety incidents, protecting WFM's reputation, and most importantly - protecting customers' safety and upholding their trust.About the teamThe Product Safety Assurance team safeguards customer trust by ensuring every non-food product meets the highest safety and quality standards. This approach enables us to drive innovation in quality systems, maintain WFM's trusted reputation, and improve downstream safety outcomes.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 8+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience- 5+ years of program or project Management experience- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level- BS in Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, or related scientific field- 10+ years CPG and/or retail experience in non‑food consumer goods, including 6+ years in non‑food production facilities (e.g., personal care, supplements, household products, pet care, baby products).- Advanced knowledge of: product safety for complex non‑food categories and processing environments; quality assurance/control processes and workflows; regulatory requirements for non‑food categories (FDA, EPA, CPSC, and state‑specific regulations).- Expert abilities to: leverage market understanding for project decisions; demonstrate knowledge of WFM operations and quality standards; navigate complex regulatory landscapes across multiple non‑food categories; and influence/advise senior leadership on technical matters.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent- Master's degree or equivalentAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
