WUNC Assistant Chief Engineer

The Assistant Chief Engineer position will assist the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. The scope of responsibilities for this position will encompass providing support in maintaining and improving the quality and reliability of our main studio locations in Chapel Hill and Durham. This position would also assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining the transmission, quality and reliability of our licensed signals. This all includes transmitter locations, our principle studios in Chapel Hill and Durham and one remote Raleigh studio location. Responsibilities include quality of signal for the entire signal path from studios to over-the-air plus digital streams. Assistance with buildings & facilities are included in this position, including emergency generators, HVAC systems, roofing, plumbing, locks and security. This position reports to the Director of IT & Engineering and works with a team of technical co-workers and contractors to create, maintain and repair broadcast and audio systems. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
