Job DescriptionThe Pastoral Care Associate (PCA) ensures that the spiritual needs of patients/residents, families and staff are tended to, and contributes to the culture of holistic care. Delivers pastoral care to patients, families and staff. Participates in the on-call rotation to ensure pastoral needs are met 24/7. Relies on good judgment and the counsel of other, more experienced staff to perform the ministerial role and operates independently under general supervision and within a pastoral care team. #CB Responsibilities Chaplaincy Care with Patients and Families Assessment: The PCA gathers and evaluates relevant data pertinent to the patients situation and/or bio-psycho-social-spiritual/religious health. Delivery of Care: The PCA provides pastoral care and services to those with a recognized need. Facilitates the expression of the patients and family's spiritual practices. Documentation of Care: The PCA enters information into the patients medical record that is relevant to the patients medical, psycho-social, and spiritual/religious goals of care. Teamwork and Collaboration: The PCA collaborates with the organization's interdisciplinary care team, and the pastoral care team. Ethical Practice: The PCA adheres to the Common Code of Ethics, which guides decision making and professional behavior. Confidentiality: The PCA respects the confidentiality of information from all sources, including the patient, medical record, other team members, and family members in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, and rules. Respect for Diversity: The PCA models and collaborates with the organization and its interdisciplinary team in respecting and providing culturally competent patient-centered care. The chaplain ministers to all person regardless of faith, race, affiliation or orientation. Administration: The PCA contributes to orderly functioning of the department by attending to administrative issues and standards of behavior. 30% Chaplaincy Care for Staff and Organization Care for Staff: The PCA provides timely and sensitive pastoral care to the organizations staff via individual and group interactions. Assists with pastoral care for unit services and special events. Care for the Organization: The PCA provides pastoral care to the organization in ways consonant with the organizations values and mission statement. Assists with memorial services and other special services. Maintaining Competent Chaplaincy Care Continuous Quality Improvement: The chaplain seeks and creates opportunities to enhance the quality of chaplaincy care practice. Other Duties as Assigned Performs other duties as assigned or requested. QualificationsExperience - 3 years in pastoral ministry Education - Bachelor's degree in theologically-related field Special Skills - Fluent in English; Knowledge and skill in dealing with spiritual dynamics of illness, loss and death; Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team; Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
