Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting the preparation of financial statements. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach to contribute to process improvements and financial reporting accuracy. Responsibilities: u2022 Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts payable and accounts receivable subledgers to the general ledger. u2022 Reconcile bank statements with cash accounts on a monthly basis. u2022 Post periodic payroll journal entries and accrue payroll for month-end. u2022 Manage fixed asset accounts, including preparing depreciation and amortization entries and performing annual close procedures. u2022 Maintain property tax schedules, post monthly entries, and reconcile actual tax bills at year-end. u2022 Oversee the processing of monthly sales and use tax returns and Canadian tax filings, ensuring proper accruals. u2022 Prepare and record journal entries for deferred financing fees, sales leasebacks, and customer rebates. u2022 Conduct monthly accruals for freight costs, sales consignments, and accounts payable items, while maintaining detailed schedules. u2022 Assist in monthly financial statement preparation by downloading and cross-checking data in financial models. u2022 Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, while addressing finance process issues as needed. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating attention to detail. u2022 Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a standard cost environment. u2022 Proficient in month-end close processes, balance sheet account management, and financial statement preparation. u2022 Experience with major ERP systems such as JD Edwards/E1, Oracle, or Dynamics 365. u2022 Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in V-Lookups, X-Lookups, and financial modeling. u2022 Strong communication abilities with a proven track record of collaboration. u2022 Analytical mindset, integrity, and a proactive attitude. u2022 Familiarity with cloud-based tools such as Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.
