Summary The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is a leading 1A VA facility consistently rated among the highest quality VA facilities in the country. A full spectrum of patient care services is offered by the Minneapolis VA including interventional radiology, radiation and surgical oncology, long term care and rehab, and a national renowned spinal cord injury clinic. Responsibilities The staff radiologist is responsible for interpreting and submitting radiology reports in accordance with VA requirements for both the outpatient and inpatient services at the Minneapolis VAHCS. The selected candidate will ensure the quality and timeliness of services, support high levels of customer satisfaction, and maintain compliance with accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission and the Office of the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. This role also ensures appropriate use of available resources, upholds state-of-the-art imaging standards, and collaborates effectively with other services as needed. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include: Provide professional (physician) guidance for all necessary imaging services for which he/she is privileged. Approximately 135,000 examinations are performed annually, including Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (general and vascular), Plain Film and Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Nuclear Medicine and IR exams. Incumbent shall provide STAT, Urgent, and Routine radiology services to all VA patients referred by the VA regardless of diagnosis, race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation and place of residence. Incumbent shall provide all necessary consultative imaging services, including preu00ad procedural evaluations, informed consent, assessment, documentation of findings and follow-up notes. Must be available for consultation to Medical Center physicians for all cases performed. Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically days.
