The Oncologic surgery service is part ofa multidisciplinary, integrated Oncology service that consists of 1surgical oncology faculty, 4 medical oncology faculty, 3 radiationoncology faculty, 6 medical oncology residents, 4 radiation oncologyresidents, one clinical trials intern, and 8-10 designated veterinarytechnicians. The successful candidate will join a surgical teamcomprising one other dedicated oncologic surgeon (an ACVS Fellow inSurgical Oncology) and six other ACVS Diplomates in Small Animal Surgery(three dedicated Soft-Tissue surgeons, one Soft tissue/Orthopedicsurgeon and two dedicated Orthopedic surgeons), providing surgical careto patients within the UW Veterinary Care hospital. The OncologicSurgery service is typically staffed with 1 faculty member, 1-3 houseofficers, fourth-year veterinary students, and 1-2 dedicated veterinarytechnicians. This position will add to our existing team, to enhanceaccess to integrated oncologic care for small animal cancer patients.Together, the Soft-Tissue, Surgical Oncology, and Orthopedic Surgeryservices support our current group of 10 small animal surgery houseofficers. Major responsibilities of this position include clinicalservice, classroom, laboratory and clinical teaching, research, andservice. Participation in emergency and after-hours clinic duty,didactic and laboratory teaching of veterinary students, house officertraining and service to the department and school is shared amongstsmall animal surgeons as appropriate. Appointment may be made in theTeaching, Clinical, or Tenure track as appropriate to the candidate'sbackground, experience, qualifications and career goals.Key Job...
