Job Description This position is expected to assist and oversee all the different aspects of shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and logging samples. Would need to help unload trucks, move sample coolers around and put them on carts,. Some bins can be more than 50 pounds and need to be placed overhead. Position is full-time, Tuesday- Saturday, 9:00am- 5:30pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Buffalo, NY are encouraged to apply. Compensation is $18-19/an hour. Depends on experience Position is full time with benefits. Sample Custodian responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: + Prepare samples for processing. + Accepts and signs for deliveries. + Assists in unloading shipments from delivery truck. + Uses dollies, forklifts, and other moving equipment to transport shipments from loading dock and around Sample Receiving area. + Opens coolers and inspects contents of shipments. Checks documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for. + Distributes samples in different departments as appropriate. + Follows strict safety and quality control procedures. + Stores, restocks, and shelves samples as necessary. + Ensures that work area is clean and organized. + Enters records in LIMS system + Distributes samples in different departments as appropriate. The ideal candidate would possess: + Demonstrates strong organizational skills. + Pays close attention to detail. + Possesses physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy boxes received by the lab. + Exhibits ability to use LIMS software competently.(will train) + Possesses basic math skills. + Works well with a team. + Communicates clearly and effectively. + Demonstrates solid problem-solving skills. + Is capable of operating forklifts and other equipment to move heavy shipments. + Demonstrates awareness of safety procedures Qualifications + High school diploma or GED is required. + Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship + A valid state issued driveru2019s license. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice. + Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English. + Perform other duties as assigned
