Job Summary and Qualifications As the Laboratory Assistant II, you oversee specimen processing and accessioning in the Specimen Processing department of the Laboratory on assigned shift. What you will do in this role: Youare responsible formaintainingan efficient workflow in the SpecimenProcessing department andmonitoringthe blood collection activityand dispatching Phlebotomists to locations across the campus. Youassistwith answering the phone and reconciling test orders, as they aresubmittedand received in the Laboratory (i.e.Add-ons and test order cancellations), and with the distribution of those samples throughout the Laboratory functional areas as needed. You also function as aPhlebotomistandperformsvenipuncture procedures to obtain blood specimens, as needed. What qualifications you will need: High School diploma or equivalent Shows leadership qualities during performance of phlebotomy duties Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all co-workers, staff, patients, patientfamiliesand vendors. Basic computer skillspreferred. Excellent communication skillsrequired.
