It owns a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Maize, Kansas, which runs a two-shift operation Monday through Friday. JOB DESCRIPTION Summary The Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring that a building or facility operates efficiently and safely. This includes performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and other building systems. The role may also involve landscaping, safety compliance, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal facility performance. Essential Functions 1. Equipment Maintenance Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery and systems. Inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in equipment and facilities. 2. Repair Work Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, including faulty wiring, motors, or control systems. Replace worn or defective parts such as bearings, filters, belts, or sensors. Repair HVAC, plumbing, or structural elements as needed. 3. Safety Compliance Follow and enforce all safety protocols and regulations. Maintain safety equipment and ensure emergency systems (fire extinguishers, alarms) are functional. Report hazardous conditions or equipment issues to supervisors. 4. Record Keeping Document maintenance and repair activities. Track inventory of tools, parts, and supplies. Update logs and schedules for preventive maintenance. 5. Facility Support Respond to facility work orders and service requests. Perform routine tasks such as painting, light construction, cleaning, or landscaping. Ensure facilities meet operational standards. Assist with other tasks requested by Facilities Manager 6. Communication & Coordination Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors on maintenance projects. Provide feedback to management on recurring problems or necessary upgrades. Support team members by providing guidance on maintenance tasks. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Facilities Technician may be required to stand and walk for extended periods; climb stairs, ladders, or similar structures; and work at heights or in confined spaces. The role requires coordination of hands, eyes, and other senses, as well as the ability to maintain balance while working around operating equipment. The Facilities Technician is occasionally exposed to high temperatures and pressures, warm to hot grease, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.
