*106639BR** **Job Title:** Merchandiser – Tuscola IL **Department/Function:** Commodity Trading **Job Description:** **Merchandiser – Tuscola IL** ADM Grain This is a full-time, salaried exempt level position. **Position Summary:** Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager this is an intermediate merchandiser position which is a part of the merchandising team in the Eastern Region. This position is responsible for merchandising corn, soybeans, and wheat across rail and truck facilities. They will have a strong understanding of merchandising across both rail and truck facilities, including logistics coordination and supply chain execution. This individual will demonstrate the ability to support and execute purchase and sales strategies, including effective position management across spreads, basis, and flat price. A solid foundation in market analysis, strategic thinking, and trading acumen is essential. This position will work collaboratively across origination, operations, and accounting, building and maintaining strong customer relationships while addressing commercial and logistical matters. They will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a team-oriented mindset. The role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute positively to team development and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced commercial environment. **Key Skills and Competencies: ** + Team focused + Results oriented + Safety awareness + Analytical Thinking + Responsible + Innovative + Proactive + Strong written and verbal communication + Information Seeking **Job Responsibilities:** + Work in a dynamic team environment and be expected to both learn and contribute + Builds & maintains positive relationships with accounts that bring defined value + Seeks out new business that would profitably enhance ADM company assets + Understands futures spreads, barge frt positions, & overall grain positioning. + Understands customer requirements and strives to meet them to differentiate ourselves from competition + Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in Salesforce. + Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service + Attends internal training sessions to learn merchandising skills & systems + Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically. + Develops a clear understanding of local, national, & world markets & trends + Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information + Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing + Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing + Generates ad hoc reports (i.e. accounting, economic, etc.) to support location and management + Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics + Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. Barges and railcars) + Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities + Develops a clear understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systems + Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs + Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals + Constantly works on individual personal development within the company + Develops good understanding of local elevator operations + Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilities + Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office & other locations + Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues + Helps in the development & training of new employees + Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends **Job Requirements: ** + BS/BA in Agriculture, Business, or related field of study + 2+ years’ experience in cash commodity trading or related field + High competency in MS Office, and experience with ICE, AGRIS, E-ADM IDT entry, and internal web based applications + Demonstrated capacity to excel in a fast paced office environment + Strong negotiation and risk management skills + Desire to develop + Detail oriented in a fast-paced environment Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
