Description This role is remote and can be filled anywhere in the US but ideally in Ohio, California, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, North Carolina Or South Carolina. Job Summary The Business Development Officer (BDO) for the Deathcare / Funeral Home Lending segment is responsible for generating high‑quality loan production and expanding the Practice Finance portfolio nationally. This role focuses on developing strategic relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) and industry professionals across the Deathcare sector—including funeral homes, crematories, cemeteries, and related service providers. The BDO identifies prospective borrowers, evaluates financing needs, and delivers lending solutions that support business acquisition, expansion, real estate financing, succession, and other capital needs. Business Development & Relationship Management + Leads national business development efforts within the Deathcare and Funeral Service industry, establishing a consistent pipeline of high‑quality loan opportunities. + Identifies, qualifies, develops, and maintains relationships with key COIs, including brokers, consultants, accountants, valuation firms, and trade groups. + Attends national and regional conferences, industry events, and networking forums to increase visibility and grow referral networks. + Conducts client meetings with prospective funeral home and crematory owners, providing education on lending options and guiding them through the financing process. + Function as the Deathcare and Funeral Home subject matter expert in the Regional Bank + Assist in vertical specific product development Pipeline & Deal Management + Manages an active pipeline of loan opportunities, ensuring timely progression from inquiry through underwriting and funding. + Collaborates with underwriting partners to review credit packages, assess financial performance, and structure appropriate lending solutions. + Participates in credit discussions, offering insight into deal structure, risk, and borrower qualifications. Production & Performance + Responsible for delivering a minimum of $25MM in annual loan production. + Meets assigned Primary Banking Relationship goals and cross‑sell targets. + Maintains accurate activity tracking and reporting within internal systems and tools. Collaboration & Leadership + Works closely with internal stakeholders including underwriting, credit, operations, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure efficient execution and exceptional client experience. + May serve as a mentor to new team members and may participate in team initiatives, process improvements, or strategic projects. + Represents the Practice Finance group at industry events, webinars, and partnership engagements. Basic Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree. + Minimum 5 years of sales experience, including at least 3 years in Business Banking, Commercial Lending, or Specialty Lending with demonstrated success in business development. Preferred Qualifications + Experience working with or supporting the Deathcare industry (funeral homes, crematories, cemeteries) preferred. + Strong understanding of IRS tax documentation, financial statements, and personal/business financial analysis. + Ability to analyze cash flow and communicate financial insights clearly to clients and referral partners. + Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility across a national market. + Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Compensation Range: $70,000.00 -$140,000.00 Annual Salary The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
