Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Omaha, Nebraska, on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, and supporting organizational goals within the non-profit sector. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner. u2022 Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger. u2022 Conduct regular bank reconciliations to verify financial data and resolve discrepancies. u2022 Analyze financial reports and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings. u2022 Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies while maintaining accurate documentation. u2022 Collaborate with internal teams to streamline accounting procedures and improve efficiency. u2022 Monitor and maintain financial records, ensuring their accuracy and completeness. u2022 Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. u2022 Assist with budgeting and forecasting to support strategic planning initiatives. u2022 Identify and resolve issues related to accounting processes or discrepancies. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. u2022 Proficiency in managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. u2022 Solid understanding of journal entries and bank reconciliation processes. u2022 Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and reports. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software and tools used for financial management. u2022 Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities. u2022 Knowledge of accounting principles and compliance standards.
