Knowledge of and proper usagemethods for most hand tools, bandsaw, router, cordless power tools,sewing machines, glue booths, and leather working experience ispreferred. Mechanical background, mechanic (automotive, small engine,powersports, diesel), welding, woodworking, cabinet building, and/orfinish carpentry experience is preferred but not required. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GEDrequired. 3 years experience using commercial sewing machines, sergersand/or various hand tools used in the upholstery and carpet trades.experience in aerospace preferred. Position Purpose: Work independentlyto design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim items in aircraftinteriors. Assist Shop Lead by overseeing projects and providingguidance and direction to co-workers. Mentor and train other UpholsteryTechnicians. Job Description Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions: Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains andvarious assemblies and subassemblies. Interpret material specificationsand design/engineering drawings to ensure finished product meets designand engineering requirements. Sew, fabricate, and install covers for allstyles of panels in the aircraft interior while meeting safety, quality,and productivity standards and goals. Use the material tracking system,Corridor, to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.Work with design/drawings to cut and install advanced custom designcarpets with unique patterns.
