MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES + College-level teaching of Mathematics courses ranging from intermediate algebra through differential equations and statistics. + Prepare and present lectures. + Meet with students as needed to answer questions. + Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner. + Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams. + Compute grades and submit them on time. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Master's degree in mathematics or a related field from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalent with at least 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in graduate-level courses strongly related to mathematics, at least 6 of which are graduate-level mathematics. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Teaching experience in a community college including instruction at the developmental level. + A strong record of academic excellence complimented by demonstrated teaching effectiveness with students who have widely varying mathematical backgrounds and learning styles. + Proven ability with the use of technology to enhance learning is essential. Additionally, the preferred candidate must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written English. + Ability to interact effectively with undergraduate students in a dynamic and diverse college environment. + Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will also be considered. Additional Information: + Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. + Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
