Director of Budget and Financial Planning (HEO) POSITION DETAILS The Lehman College campus located in Bronx, New York is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. A federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution, Lehman serves a diverse population of more than 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Director of Budget and Financial Planning is a key member of the Collegeu2019s leadership team. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, this role requires visionary leadership, the adoption of innovative financial strategies, and the development of comprehensive operating plans in partnership with other financial executives to support the Collegeu2019s long-term strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and inspiring others through a team-oriented approach. This position requires close coordination with Lehman executives, department administrators, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, utilizing industry best practices and a data-driven approach. This position will prepare and deliver regular presentations to executive leadership and department administrators, faculty, staff and external constituents, ensuring clear communication of the collegeu2019s financial outlook and strategy. Additionally, the candidate will support the implementation of key programs and policies and play a critical role in shaping the long-term financial vision of the campus. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to the following: u2022 Provide the college community with strategic, mission-driven, and long-term financial planning. u2022 Partner with senior leadership to set priorities that strengthen the Collegeu2019s long-term strategic financial planning and management. u2022 Oversee all aspects of the tax levy budget, including preparation, funding formulas, analysis and implementation of the Collegeu2019s annual Operating Budget, including modifications and compliance with approved financial plans. u2022 Liaison with CUNY to track, audit, and reporting budget and expenses for the College. u2022 Develop and present divisional revenue forecast and tuition collections, ensuring alignment with enrollment goals and institutional needs. u2022 Collaborate in the gathering and updating of an all-funds financial reporting structure. u2022 Lead monthly expense reconciliations ensuring data accuracy, integrity and timely resolution of variances. u2022 Prepare and present financial plan and updates to college administrators and campus community. u2022 Participate in various committees at both Lehman and CUNY. u2022 Play a leading role in the successful implementation of CUNYWork at the College. u2022 Participates in special projects and other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required. Preferred qualifications include: u2022 Highly motivated self-starter with supervisory, exceptional organizational, research and analytic skills u2022 Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including general presentation and financial reporting. u2022 Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. u2022 Experience in managing large, complex budgets with multiple funding sources. u2022 Able to set and meet pressured deadlines to satisfy budget and financial plan preparation, updates, reporting requirements; and the ability to manage multiple, often-competing priorities u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint u2022 Excellent organizational and analytical skills; u2022 Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with competing deadlines; u2022 Strong proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g. ERP systems. Workday, etc.) CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Directs the budgeting function of a College or major program as well as related accounting operations. - Formulates, prepares and oversees financial plans and budgeting processes - Manages all financial reporting and compliance activities, including preparation of financial statements, statistical reports, and funding determinations - Liaisons with internal and external financial auditors as well as various College, University and governmental representatives - Oversees analytical reporting and provides strategic financial guidance to support decisions regarding resource allocations and operational planning - Manages professional staff responsible for budget projections, allocations and transactions - Performs related duties as assigned.
