Life Safety Specialist - Mount Carmel

Employment Type:Full timeShift:Description:Position will also be responsible to contractor replacement of fire extinguisher/suppression system monitoring and work order response.Life Safety SpecialistPosition Purpose: We are looking to fill the role of Life Safety Specialist. This position will report to the Regional Manager of Life Safety and will be part of the Environmental Health & Safety Department. The position will ensure that fire life safety systems are tested, inspected and updated based on regulatory standards. The position requires accurate documentation of inspection activities and keeping records of Mount Carmel systems and maintaining fire systems per established codes and regulations including deficiency repairs. Applicants must have a basic understanding of fire system operations in a hospital environment. The applicant must have an understanding of healthcare building structures per NFPA 101/ NFPA 99 and have the ability to read CAD Life Safety drawings. The position includes accompanying the Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies as needed. Coordinating and overseeing Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) in response to Life Safety deficiencies are part of the job requirements. Exercise Life Safety compliance oversite at MCHS locations (including off campus) designated by the Regional Manager of Life Safety to ensure compliance to State and local fire codes in coordination with Trinity Health/MCHS policies. What You Will Do:Building/occupant safety is also part of the position as it relates to the physical environment and taking immediate action when required to eliminate or reduce safety risks. Serve as a liaison to local fire departments, onsite fire vendors, property management (if applicable) while working in a timely fashion to address any concerns prioritizing response. Actively serve on designated committee related to Physical Environment- Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness. Participate in regulatory rounding and performance improvement initiatives. Assist in EHS safety training and activities including but not limited to fire safety, emergency preparation and physical environment safety. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree or job or related trade school preferredLicense/Certification: State of Ohio (Fire, Sprinkler, Portable Fire Extinguisher) License RequiredValid driver’s license requiredAppropriate auto insurance requiredICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 90 days of hire requiredNICET Level 1 certification in Fire Protection Engineering, Inspecting and Testing of Water Based Fire Suppression.
