The Dance Instructor is responsible for building positive relationships among members, participants, volunteers and staff by actively greeting and providing excellent customer service, guidance and leadership. The Instructor creates and leads dance classes in a safe, effective, and timely manner, appropriate to the level of the participants in class, to enhance the physical, mental, and spiritual health of each student.For information on Y Employee Perks, click on this link:Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)ScheduleLocation: South Bay Family YMCAYouth Ballet (ages 2-12) - Saturdays 11:30am - 1:00pmMore time opportunities available Create a positive member experience through welcoming participants and ensuring they are actively engaged in their workoutProvide a safe workout routine by demonstrating proper form and technique, appropriate modifications, and cueing Maintain a clean and safe workout areaEffectively utilize scheduled class timeProperly set up and breakdown class equipment in allotted timeframeBuild community through forming positive relationships through learning names, and helping members reach their Health & Wellness GoalsAdhere to the core functions of the YMCA and exemplify Y Group Exercise Class GuidelinesAbility to communicate verbally to large and small groups of membersPhysical ability to lead and participate in exercise/fitness activitiesVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergencyOther duties as assignedMinimum of 18 years of age or older1+ year's experience in youth ballet dance preferredHave the basic knowledge & skill level to lead and create ballet dance routines for the different age groupsMust be able to commit to a month-to-month scheduleBe available to teach classes at both South Bay & Border View YMCA locations (when needed)Strong leadership in co-leading quarterly in-house performancesAll job required trainings within 90 days from date of hireStrong communication skills and the capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilitiesKnowledge of fitness principles and practical applications requiredCPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within30 daysofhireand must be from one of the following certifying organizations:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
