Job Description

The Director of Clinical Education ensures the availability of clinical sites for the educational experience of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography students. It is the responsibility of the Director of Clinical Education to prepare the students for their clinical experience with lab practice, classroom lectures and scheduling of physicals, background checks and/or drug testing required for clinical placement.Secure new clinical affiliation agreements (contracts) as required by the programMaintain affiliation agreements and ensure timely renewals of expiring contractsRegularly visit affiliates and validate clinical objectives are delivered appropriately to studentsEvaluate and validate the clinical education affiliate's appropriateness and effectivenessDocument and record clinical site visitCreate, maintain and audit student records (e.g. immunizations, background checks, and drug testing); Affirm compliance with clinical affiliate requirementsDevelop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculumCoordinate clinical education with didactic educationSchedule students in appropriate clinical rotationsMonitor and affirm that students neet clinical education requirementsProvide supervision of students while onsite clinical affiliate location(s)Review and monitor clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and securely maintainedOrient and train clinical instructors and preceptors at clinical sitesParticipate in the local professional community to raise awareness of the institution, enhance student opportunities, and build professional networksActively participate in student, campus, and community activities as requiredProvide instruction in both the Clinical and Didactic aspects of the programOrganize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise mannerEvaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessmentsProvide constructive feedback and support to students to help them achieve academic and professional successIdentify and report on any at-risk students; Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.This position is designated as On Campus or On site; Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.Local travel required (up to 10%)
