Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)

CVP is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our team in providing high-quality emergency care to our Nation's Veterans at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center- Fort Thomas. This position involves working in the Emergency Department, delivering critical care to Veterans with acute medical conditions.We have full-time, part-time and PRN contract positions available.Utilize broad-based clinical knowledge to effectively assess, implement health promotion and prevention interventions, and manage acute illnesses and injuries in an emergency settingPerform rapid patient assessments and triage to prioritize care based on acuity levelsInitiate appropriate emergency interventions, treatments, and procedures according to established protocolsMonitor and identify changes in patient status, rapidly responding to life-threatening situationsProvide patient-centered care by developing care plans and responding to significant changes in patient health conditionsDocument patient assessments and plans of care in the electronic medical record using designated templates within required timeframesAdminister medications and treatments as prescribed, maintaining 100% accuracy with Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA)Perform various emergency nursing procedures including IV insertion, central line care, wound care, and blood product administrationCoordinate patient flow through the emergency department including admissions and dischargesPerform cardiac monitoring and interpret basic cardiac rhythmsRespond to and assist in emergency situations including resuscitation effortsCommunicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and familiesDemonstrate VA core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE)Complete all CPRS clinical alerts daily and maintain proper documentationSupport trauma response and mass casualty protocols when necessaryMinimum of one year recent experience in Emergency Department nursingGraduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)Current, full, active, and unrestricted registered nurse license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of ColumbiaAHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationAHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationDemonstrated proficiency in all elements of emergency nursing processExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishAbility to undergo and pass a government-sponsored background investigation (U.S. Citizenship Required)Ability to physically perform a full range of nursing duties without restrictionsExperience with emergency procedures, trauma protocols, and critical interventions preferredLocationCincinnati VA Medical Center - Fort Thomas, 1000 South Fort Thomas Ave, Fort Thomas, KYAbout CVPCVP is an award-winning healthcare and next-gen technology and consulting services firm solving critical problems for healthcare, national security, and public sector clients.
