AP Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced AP Staff Accountant to join our team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is a Contract to permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with strong attention to detail to contribute to our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on accounts payable tasks while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all accounting procedures. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage a manual purchase order system, adhering to established procedures. u2022 Maintain a separate ledger for construction-related accounts payable and expedite the approval and payment process. u2022 Collaborate with various departments, vendors, volunteers, and financial institutions to ensure smooth operations. u2022 Process and approve invoices for payment, issuing checks on a weekly basis. u2022 Monitor and manage positive pay systems to ensure accurate financial transactions. u2022 Collect corporate credit card receipts, input charges into the accounts payable module, and reconcile entries. u2022 Assist with cash handling processes in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant. u2022 Complete monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy. u2022 Record payroll journal entries on a weekly basis. u2022 Prepare and submit sales tax returns in compliance with regulations. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. u2022 Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and managing general ledger accounts. u2022 Ability to create and post journal entries, particularly for month-end close processes. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software, such as Financial Edge, is preferred. u2022 Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet deadlines. u2022 Effective communication skills to work with internal teams and external parties. u2022 Knowledge of sales tax preparation and submission procedures. u2022 Comfortable working in an animal-friendly environment.
