Job Title: Right of Way Designer Job Description We are seeking a Survey CAD/Right of Way (ROW) Plan Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid resume in land surveying with an understanding of civil engineering design and ROW acquisition procedures. These responsibilities involve the preparation of accurate and detailed ROW plans, and legal descriptions for projects involving highways, roadways, and utilities. Additionally, you will engage in survey mapping for a variety of boundary, topographic, utility, and site development projects. Responsibilities + Design and draft right of way plans using CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and OpenRoads. + Interpret survey data, legal descriptions, and engineering plans to create accurate ROW exhibits. + Prepare parcel plats, easement exhibits, and legal descriptions for acquisition and permitting. + Coordinate with survey crews to ensure field data aligns with design requirements. + Review title reports, deeds, and other property documents to identify existing ROW and easements. + Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to land acquisition and ROW. + Assist in preparing documentation for public agencies, utility companies, and property owners. + Maintain organized project files and documentation for internal and external review. Essential Skills + Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and OpenRoads. + Qualified ROW Designer with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). + Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Transportation Right of Way Manual. + 3+ years experience in preparing ROW plans and legal descriptions. + Ability to interpret plans and survey field notes. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Carlson Survey software is a plus. + Professional Surveyor (PS), Professional Engineer (PE), Survey Intern (SI), or Engineer Intern (EI) is a plus but not required. + High school diploma. Work Environment The work environment is mainly in-office with flexibility for a hybrid schedule. Enjoy half-days on Fridays, allowing for a balance between professional and personal commitments. The team is dedicated to fostering growth, offering 1-on-1 training with licensed engineers, and prioritizing internal promotions before hiring externally.
