Summary This position is located in Patient Business Services at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Medical Center. The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) in Specialty Medicine. Incumbent must possess knowledge of clinic processes and services to function in and interact with various clinics throughout the facility. Employee must have knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures associated with operational activities that affect workload data. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Supervisory MSA has full responsibility for supervising subordinate Advanced Medical Support Assistant within the service. Assignments at this level include but are not limited to: Evaluating the work of subordinate staff. Assure accurate appointment management and the coordination of all administrative information between the professional staff and the patient. Evaluate performance and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Work collaboratively with facility programs, services, and interprofessional coordinated care team members to facilitate access to care through focused efforts on meeting the needs of Veterans via various available contact modalities to include but not limited to telephone calls, secure messaging, chat, text messaging and videoconferencing. Identify educational or training needs. Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met. Making final decisions on hiring selections; time and leave; managing clinic closures (blocking/cancellations). Provides administrative support to Physicians, Physician's Assistants, Nurses, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and other administrative and professional staff.
