Job Title: Civil Engineering Technician 2Job Description This contract position provides experienced technical, organizational, and design support to the Transmission Project Engineering Group. The role primarily involves managing design submittal processes and supporting the system of naming and design documents for transmission line, fiber-optic cable, and wireless installations. Responsibilities + Receive and process transmission line one-line diagrams, phasing diagrams, structure lists, site data sheets, and project-specific drawings. + Handle fiber-optic cable system diagrams, installation sheets, and meter mark light path data. + Research, design, draft, and update fiber-optic cable splice diagrams. + Coordinate the completion of material requests for replacement materials. + Update drawings with as-built information post-construction. + Perform design work for complex capital projects, adapting standard guides and designs. + Produce comprehensive final design packages, utilizing CAD systems. + Review material and equipment drawings for compliance with technical specifications. + Maintain and operate databases and systems to track all drawings and documents. + Provide technical support for design activities and assist in facilitating design activities. + Develop and prepare reports, presentations, and training materials. + Draft, prepare, revise, and distribute design drawings and technical documents. + Convert existing hard copy drawings to electronic versions. + Enter and verify data in CAD files for future facility designs. + Maintain contracted design submittals for all transmission line projects. + Support the development of process and policies related to design submittals. + Draft and issue official design and line naming memos. Essential Skills + Proficiency in information technology and system administration. + Experience with System Center Operations Manager and Configuration Manager. + Strong Excel and Windows Server Administration skills. + Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related field with 1 year of experience, or an Associate's degree with 3 years of experience. + Experience with MicroStation CAD platform or similar programs. + Experience using ProjectWise or similar document management software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in the Electric Utility sector with a focus on structural design. + Knowledge of DOE, NERC, FERC, and other regulatory policies applicable to public electric utilities. + Ability to carry out civil engineering technician assignments related to transmission line, fiber-optic, and wireless facilities design. Work Environment The work environment involves a slower-paced office setting with somewhat flexible hours. Business casual attire is expected. The role involves independent work with minimal supervision, is deadline-driven, and often requires waiting on approvals and paperwork. The team provides project engineering leadership, analysis, and expertise related to transmission lines, fiber optics, and wireless projects, with responsibilities including project planning, maintenance support, and emergency response services. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $42.00/hr.
