While most of our teams time is spent working with members of the practice, we also have assignments that are completed in partnership with other Milliman offices around the world.We believe that the actuarial skillset has important applications across both our traditional actuarial work and our work in developing market areas, and are committed to developing a pipeline of actuarial talent and future leaders of the firm through exam support and interaction with senior colleagues.What You Will DoOn a day-to-day basis, an experienced Actuarial Analyst will work autonomously and with project team members to execute key analyses for ongoing projects. Building upon two or more years of professional actuarial experience, this Analyst will be expected to produce high-quality work and on occasion delegate tasks to junior team members. Much of this persons work will involve complex data manipulation and summarization in Excel, but supplemental programming, statistical, and database skills are highly valued and will open up additional opportunities for impactful client assignments and advancement.Our ideal Actuarial Analyst demonstrates professionalism and strong communication skills in all internal and external interaction, with a strong work ethic and intrinsic motivation, especially when working remotely. An up-and-coming actuary who enjoys the technical aspect of the field as well as presenting results and recommendations will thrive in this role.Actuaries in this practice are expected to pursue credentials with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) by taking and passing actuarial examinations, and are provided time and monetary resources to support this pursuit.Typical responsibilities in this role include:Oversee the execution of projects, whether ad hoc or longer-termWrite reports and support client communicationDirect interaction with client and/or clientu0027s other vendor partners (e.g., broker, captive manager, auditor)Direct, train and provide guidance to Actuarial Analysts (e.g. data cleaning, checking)Comply with internal quality control, risk management, and peer review guidelinesParticipate in marketing opportunities including publications and presentationsPresent findings to peers, project managers, and client relationship managersDraft written reports and exhibits, and prepare other internal/external correspondenceCheck their own and peers work for accuracy in the mechanics as well as the methodologyWrite detailed documentation to keep track of how data is compiled for specific projectsImplement process improvements to produce better resultsPerform or assist with other duties assigned at the direction of practice PrincipalsWhat We Are Looking ForProfessional QualificationsA minimum of three actuarial exams passed at the time of application, and in pursuit of an Associate credential from the Casualty Actuarial SocietyBetween two and ten years of professional actuarial fulltime work experience in pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, capital modeling, enterprise risk management, and/or reinsurance-related actuarial topics for North American and/or European companiesCompleted Bachelors degree or higher at the time of application, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, etc.Substantial expertise with MS Excel and WordIf you have already attained your ACAS credential, and have up to 10 years of professional experience, please apply instead to posting # dividual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for any immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.Personal QualificationsStrong critical thinking, technical, and analytical skillsSuperb attention to detail and dedication to technical accuracyThe ability to work collaboratively and organize various client needs simultaneously across multiple concurrent projectsAccustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, willing to put in extra effort when required by our clientsThe ability and willingness to clearly articulate questions and ideasClearly demonstrated leadership and creative thinking abilitiesIntellectual curiosity about the topics of risk, Milliman, and the work of our practiceEnthusiasm for producing high-quality, professional work with accuracy and integrityInspired to contribute to the success of a project and succeed as a teamSelf-starter, with excellent time management skills including collaboration across time zonesPreferred QualificationsFour or more passed actuarial examsExpertise with statistical and modeling tools such as R, @Risk, VBA, Python, SAS, STATA, etc.Working knowledge of supplemental database and professional working tools such as Access and PowerPointLocationThis is a hybrid position for candidates with under five years of relevant full-time actuarial experience, based out of either the Milliman Boston office (Wakefield, MA) or Vermont office (Burlington, VT).Candidates with five or more years of relevant full-time actuarial experience who are not local to one of these two locations may apply for remote work. Additional periodic travel may be required nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events (up to 20%). A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to: education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.For candidates residing in:Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:$77,740 - $136,160 if overall experience is more than two but less than four years; and$87,170 - $152,605 if overall experience is more than four but less than seven years.All other states:$67,600 - $118,400 if overall experience is more than two but less than four years; and$75,800 - $132,700 if overall experience is more than four but less than seven years.A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees health, financial security, and well-being.
