GL / Property Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled GL / Property Accountant to join our team in Germantown, Tennessee. This Contract to permanent position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise in accounting and financial processes will play a key role in supporting property management functions. After an initial 90-day onsite training period, a hybrid work schedule will be available. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger for assigned properties. u2022 Complete monthly close processes, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and variance analysis. u2022 Review financial statements for accuracy and apply necessary accruals, amortizations, and reclassifications to ensure compliance with accounting standards. u2022 Conduct thorough analysis of balance sheet accounts and prepare detailed reconciliations. u2022 Monitor monthly utility expenses, making adjustments as needed, and provide explanations for variances. u2022 Collaborate with peers through quality assurance reviews of close packages and other deliverables to maintain accuracy and timeliness. u2022 Address property accounting inquiries from Operations and implement corrective actions to resolve issues. u2022 Participate in general ledger project teams and contribute to collaborative efforts with internal and external resources. u2022 Assist with compliance testing as required by the Internal Audit Department. u2022 Perform additional duties as needed to support the overall business objectives. Requirements Contract to permanent u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. u2022 Minimum of two years of relevant experience in accounting or finance. u2022 Proficiency in general ledger processes, journal entries, and monthly financial statement preparation. u2022 Strong skills in account reconciliation and variance analysis. u2022 Experience in real estate or property accounting is preferred. u2022 Familiarity with Yardi investment accounting systems is highly desirable. u2022 Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail. u2022 Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and address accounting concerns.
