Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Senior Social Worker in this position functions as the medical center's Grant and Per Diem Liaison/Case Manager for VA's Healthcare for Homeless Veterans Program, Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Program. Responsibility for monitoring and coordinating services provided by community-based programs funded under VA's Homeless Providers GPD Program. The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides direct mental health and substance abuse services for Veterans and family members or significant others in support of the Veteran's treatment. Provides individual and group counseling services as well as crisis management services needed to maintain the Veteran safely in their residence. Makes routine visits to each Veteran in residence to assess their environment and provide on-going clinical services. Receives and completes consults requesting services from interdisciplinary team members and from other mental health professionals on complex, difficult cases, using advanced practice skills and expertise and provides consultation to interdisciplinary team members and is responsible for development and maintenance of professional standards of practice and educating others about them. Interviews Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs. Reviews all data, subjective and objective, and makes a clinical assessment, identifying needs and strengths. Uses professional skill, objectivity, and insight effectively. Assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary disposition plan, involving the Veteran and family or significant others. Organizes community services on behalf of beneficiaries, developing and coordinating procedures for use of these services by related staff. Develops working relationships and agreements with other organizations having responsibilities for the same Veterans population. Makes recommendations, ensures expert diagnosis and treatment of clinical disorders, and shows competent discretion in decision to adjust treatment. Makes recommendations for care and changes to interdisciplinary treatment plan. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized to highly qualified candidates. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
