What Youu2019ll Do As an Ophthalmic Technician, you play a key role in the patient journeyu2014from screening to diagnostics to ensuring readiness for physician evaluation. Your responsibilities will include: + Performing specialized ophthalmic testing tailored to each patient and condition. + Conducting preliminary vision and eye health screenings for physician review. + Reviewing charts, clinical notes, and patient conditions to determine appropriate testing methods. + Positioning patients safely and comfortably for all exams and procedures. + Setting up, operating, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment used for imaging, diagnostics, and testing. + Assisting with patient mobility, including transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables. + Identifying equipment issues and coordinating with repair technicians. + Maintaining quality control, service logs, and inventory according to department protocols. + Supporting additional clinical functions to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care. Required Skills & Experience + 3+ years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, glaucoma, or related fields + Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) + Experience working in Epic Systems (EPIC) + Strong competency in manual refraction Preferred Qualifications + High school diploma required + Additional certification strongly preferred + Previous hands-on clinical experience required + Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment What Itu2019s Like to Work Here Step into a busy, thriving ophthalmology practice in New Haven, where no two days are the same. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
