Come build your career with us Job Summary and Qualifications The Division Director of Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE) directly supports the professional practice evaluation process as applicable to the MidAmerica Division and affiliated facilities. Division Director of PPE provides oversight of systems and processes related to professional practice evaluation to include the review, screening, and organization of cases by the Medical Staff Facility Managers, Vice Presidents of Quality and Medical Staff Professional Practice Evaluation Reviewer(s), and maintains processes to ensure timely presentation of cases to the MidAmerica Division and affiliated facilities optimizing patient outcomes, safety, and clinical performance. This position is responsible to support the peer review process, to include the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) for new applicants and new privileges, within the facility while working closely with the Vice President of Quality, Chief Medical Officer & appointed medical staff leadership. The Division Director of PPE will work collaboratively with staff from Quality, HIM, Coding, Medical Staff Services, Administration and various physician, nursing and ancillary care groups. The DDPPE will provide division-level oversight of the mortality and complication review program to support clinical excellence across the system. This position further partners with facility Vice President of Quality in driving accountability for outcomes related to complications, safety of care, and regulatory expectations. Essential Functions: - Designs, plans and coordinates a consistent, medical staff peer review process throughout MidAmerica Division and affiliated facilities. - Analyze, interpret, and communicate performance data to executives and medical staff leaders to guide decision-making and performance monitoring - Reviews medical records, peer review trigger reports, and other data sources to screen for selected quality indicators. - Provides guidance to Medical Staff Manager, PPE Reviewer, PPE Committee, CMO, VPQ and appointed medical staff leadership related to the preparation and review of cases. - Management of Division PPE systems and operational processes escalating to AVP of Quality, as necessary. - Lead and support mortality review program processes and Quality Coordinators to reduce preventable mortalities across the division. Major Responsibilities: 1. Leads and operationalizes the divisionu2019s PPE strategy to ensure alignment with corporate priorities, accreditation standards, and CMS Conditions of Participation. 1. Monitor compliance with all TJC standards related to FPPE/OPPE and Medical Staff Standards. 1. Drives implementation of high-reliability practices and evidence-based clinical workflows within the mortality and complications reduction programs across the system. 1. Oversees division-wide initiatives including mortality reduction, sepsis performance, PSI/HAC reduction, and other safety priorities 1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to division facilities related to all PPE matters. 1. Analyzes data for patterns or trends and opportunities for improvement, as indicated by the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation Process and the Focus Professional Practice Evaluation Process that includes managing the periodic reporting. 1. Act as an education resource and consultant to facility Vice President of Quality. 1. Takes an active part in all new systems implementation, training and management related to Practitioner Excellence and Professional Practice Manager. 1. Identify and voice process improvement opportunities or problems that must be identified and resolved immediately so process is not delayed. 1. Ensure that operations conform to local, state, and federal governmental regulations. 1. Monitor compliance with HCA model policies, procedures and bylaws. 1. Provides ongoing education, support and training to the Division Medical Staff Facility Managers and Facility Department Chairs 1. Ensures timely division-level notification of potential or confirmed medical staff safety events. 1. Supports initiatives to strengthen psychological safety, Just Culture adoption, and high-reliability behaviors What qualifications you will need: Clinical degree in a healthcare-related field preferred. Preferred Substantial experience performing clinical chart reviews & data analysis within a healthcare setting. Required Minimum of 3 yearsu2019 direct experience with medical staff peer review, leading quality improvement or administering patient safety programs.
