Many caregivers have moved from this role to Nursing and Medical Technologists, as the team is supportiveof growing your career.Join our team and together, provide exceptional patient care.A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Fridayfrom7:00AM - 3:30PM.Martin North Hospital will be the primary work location, but floating to Martin South and Tradition Hospitalsmayberequired, as needed.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Process all cytology, biopsy and aspirate specimens received from other patient care areas.Perform immunocytochemical stains andassistthe pathologist in processing tissue for immediate frozen sections.Arrange for submission of various tissue and gynecological specimens, which include thin preps and preparedsmearsto reference laboratories.Report pertinent information to the pathologist, patient care area, or supervisor (e.g.,instrument malfunctions, delay in testing,reagentor supply depletion).Maintain cleanliness of work areas and keep work areas organized and stocked.Follow safety procedures andutilizeall safety devices and personal protective equipment per protocol.Follow procedures and refer to procedure manuals for proper instructions when needed.Be proficient in operating instrumentation and equipment and follow trouble-shooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur.Ensure instrument operations and results are reliable and perform maintenancechecks,startups and/or shutdowns as assigned or asrequired.Answer telephones, greetcustomersand provideconsultsand technical support to the pathologists,physiciansand nursing staff.Follow quality control policy and ensure controls are within acceptable limits before patient results are reported.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDCurrent license in the State of Florida at theHistology orCytologyTechnologist levelPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Associate’s Degreeor higher from a NACCLS approved Histotechnology program OR aBachelor’s Degreein one of the Chemical or Biological SciencesHistotechnologist (HTL)Certificationthrough theAmerican Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)Two years of hospital experiencePhysical Requirements: Requirement 1Requirement 2Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeMinimum hourly: $34.00Maximum hourly: $45.65The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
