Position SummaryPosition DescriptionSeeking a Materials Science Co-Op to assist materials research in Tube Fittings Division (TFD) of Parker Hannifin Corporation in Columbus, OH. The student will work closely with the Materials Science Engineer to support development of new products, quality, and processing improvement of current products.Essential ResponsibilityPerform mechanical tests of a variety of properties including hardness, tensile, fracture toughness et al.Prepare and analyze metallographic samples for ferrous and non-ferrous alloysAssist failure analysis on products from testing and field applicationConduct chemical analysis to measure the chemical composition of alloysCollect, analyze, and summarize data to support professional test reportsMaintain a safe testing environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulationsHelp with other miscellaneous engineering tasksQualifications:Education and ExperienceFinish at least 2 years education toward a bachelor's degree in Materials Science or other related engineering disciplinesExperience in materials testing laboratory environment preferredGPA of 3.0 or higherMust be a U.S. CitizenKnowledge, Skills, and AbilityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh degree of mechanical aptitudeAbility to perform in a team environmentPersonal computer skills including MS Office, Email, and the InternetEqual Employment OpportunityParker is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
