As a Generation Resource Planning Analyst, youu2019ll be at the forefront of evaluating and optimizing the mix of power generation resources including renewables, battery energy storage systems (BESS), nuclear resources including small modular nuclear reactors, gas turbines, and emerging technologies that will power millions of homes and businesses. This is more than a modeling role; it's a strategic position where your work will support long-term infrastructure investments and regulatory approvals. Job Description WHAT YOUu2019LL DO As a Generation Resource Planning Analyst, you will support strategic planning efforts that shape the future of AEPu2019s power generation portfolio. Youu2019ll develop and analyze resource plans to meet customer demand, market and regulatory requirements. Your work will directly inform Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs), company strategy, budgeting, and regulatory filings. This role offers the opportunity to work independently and as a strategic project manager to contribute to high-impact decisions, and, as you gain experience, serve as a subject matter expert across departments and with external stakeholders. u00b7 Support and lead generation resource planning studies, including capacity, energy, and renewable optimization. u00b7 Contribute to the development of Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) by preparing inputs, analyzing outputs, and producing narrative and visual reports. u00b7 Build financial models to evaluate generation asset acquisitions, including net present value, annualized cost, and benefit-cost ratios. u00b7 Maintain and enhance modeling and automation tools; implement process improvements. u00b7 Stay current on market rules and requirements (e.g., PJM, SPP) and ensure modeling reflects those standards. u00b7 Evaluate supply and demand-side alternatives, including energy efficiency, demand response, and intermittent resources. u00b7 Prepare and present detailed analyses to internal teams and leadership. u00b7 Support development of testimony and serve as a resource in regulatory proceedings. u00b7 Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders. u00b7 Build and maintain capacity/load/reserve schedules and related databases. u00b7 Create custom reports and procedures to meet specific planning needs. u00b7 Benchmark industry trends and assess their impact on resource planning. Resource Planning Analyst Principal (grade 8): Base Salary = $99K - $128K Education : Bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics); OR, Bacheloru2019s degree in a non-analytical field with two years of analytical experience. Experience : three (3) years as a Resource Planning Analyst Sr; OR, Nine (9) years of related resource planning experience (in addition to the experience identified above), specifically in generating plant operations or construction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, commercial operations, RTO operations, or transmission engineering/operations. An advanced degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) will be considered to be 2 years of relevant experience. Resource Planning Analyst Sr. (grade 7): Base Salary = $88K - $109K Education : Bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics); OR, Bacheloru2019s degree in a non-analytical field with two years of analytical experience. Experience : three (3) years as a Resource Planning Analyst; OR, Six (6) years of related resource planning experience (in addition to the experience identified above), specifically in generating plant operations or construction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, commercial operations, RTO operations, or transmission engineering/operations. An advanced degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) will be considered to be (2) years of relevant work experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: u00b7 Ability to work occasional overtime (weekend/evenings). u00b7 Occasional overnight travel may be required. u00b7 Ability to serve as a witness in regulatory proceedings (may require travel for multiple days).
