Summary This announcement is for a Registered Nurse (RN) Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) position located in Acute Care on the 5 west unit at the University Drive C campus in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The 5W ANM supports the Nurse Manager with supervisory duties, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed and function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Responsibilities The Assistant Nurse Manager in Acute Care has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. They influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Duties of the Assistant Nurse Manager include but are not limited to the following: 1. Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. 2. Applies advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. 3. Applies nursing expertise to lead improvement, with demonstrated outcomes, beyond the immediate practice setting. 4. Leads initiatives to improve the Veteran experience i.e., care coordination, timeliness to resolve issues, negative trends, or environment of care concerns, beyond the immediate practice setting. 5. Demonstrates leadership in patient advocacy by protecting the health, safety, and rights of patient population groups beyond the immediate practice setting. 6. Leads staff to identify, analyze and address ethical issues that impact patients, caregivers and staff beyond the immediate practice setting. 7. Models' high reliability principles and I CARE values to improve the consistency of care delivery and patient outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
