This position serves as a Human Resources Professional supporting two personnel areas: Headquarters (HDQ) and Prison Enterprises (PE). The role is responsible for directing and administering all Human Resources programs for statewide positions within these units and managing personnel actions for seven (7) Unit Heads located at correctional facilities throughout the state. Our HR team administers and supports a wide range of processes, including FMLA, performance management, personnel actions, time administration, reporting workersu2019 compensation claims and employee relations matters that require careful review, sound judgment, and consistent application of policy. Minimum Qualifications Five years of human resources experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus two years of human resources experience; OR A bacheloru2019s degree plus two years of human resources experience; OR An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus one year of human resources experience. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Assists supervisors and managers by providing routine information related to the Continuous Performance Management system. Notifies staff of planning deadlines and follows up to ensure target dates are met. + Processes the full range of personnel and payroll actions required to complete appointments, reallocations, promotions, transfers, separations, and other related transactions. + Provides assistance to agency personnel on routine or limited Civil Service rules, federal and state laws, and departmental policies and procedures within assigned areas. + Computes routine pay changes and may calculate employee service time as required. Verifies the accuracy of information and makes necessary corrections. + Provides general explanations of employee benefit programs and advises employees of available options under certain programs. Reviews benefit documents for accuracy and completeness and forwards them to the appropriate office. + Provides onboarding documentation to new employees, offering guidance and a general overview of each document, and follows up to ensure all required forms are completed in a timely manner. + Contact employees, supervisors, managers, and other personnel to obtain corrections or resolve minor discrepancies in submitted information. + Reviews personnel files on a routine basis to ensure current position descriptions are maintained for all positions. + Collects and compiles statistical data required for the preparation of reports.
