Computer Science Internship - Digital Twin

Auria is looking to hire a Computer Science intern. This role is ONSITE in Colorado Springs, CO.Summer Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 28, 2026, end date flexible based on academic obligations.We are seeking a Computer Science Intern to support the development of a digital twin simulation environment for space-based sensing systems. The intern will contribute to the development of a software simulation that models a space-based infrared missile warning sensor and generates realistic sensor-derived data products that feed an operational command-and-control platform. The work will support experimentation with human-AI teaming and operational decision support.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:- Develop software components for a digital twin simulation of a space-based infrared sensor- Implement models that simulate satellite observation geometry and missile launch events- Build software that generates simulated sensor detection events and tracking data- Implement algorithms that convert simulation outputs into structured data products used by operational systems- Integrate the simulation with an operational command-and-control platform to demonstrate data ingestion and event visualization- Support the development of scenario simulations used to test operational workflows and decision-support tools- Contribute to testing, debugging, and documenting simulation softwareWHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:- Mission-Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world.- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field- Experience programming in Python, Java, or C++- Familiarity with object-oriented programming and software design- Experience working with data structures and algorithms- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based engineering environment- Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsWHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:- Experience with simulation development or modeling environments- Familiarity with REST APIs, messaging systems, or data pipelines- Exposure to scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, etc.)- Experience working with Git or other version control systems- Interest in space systems, defense applications, or command-and-control systems- Experience with data visualization or geospatial visualization tools- Experience with simulation development or modeling environments- Familiarity with REST APIs, messaging systems, or data pipelines- Exposure to scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, etc.)- Experience working with Git or other version control systems- Interest in space systems, defense applications, or command-and-control systems- Experience with data visualization or geospatial visualization toolsPAY TRANSPARENCY:The wage offered will be based on the selected candidate's college year. $22/hr. - $33/hr.APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 13, 2026THE AURIA TEAM:Auria is a provider of solutions and software in support of complex Space, National Security, and Cyber missions of federal, international, and commercial customers.
