This role will take intellectual andoperational ownership of a major experimental arc that integratesanaerobic bacterial culture, mechanistic molecular and systems-levelapproaches, and murine CDI models to define how butyrate alterssporulation, toxin release, and in vivo fitness. The Scientist I will beexpected to execute with urgency and rigor, communicate clearly, andhelp set and maintain the bar for science in the lab through strongproject management, documentation, and mentorship. In addition toadvancing the butyrate-C. difficile program, the position will includeadditional responsibilities as needed to support lab priorities andmomentum. In addition to work with C. difficile, the lab has diverseprojects investigating various aspects of bacterial pathogenesis andcommensalism. All of these projects are unified under the common goal ofdeveloping non-antibiotic strategies to combat bacterial pathogens. Theposition is full-time and onsite in the Microbial Sciences Building.This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designatedcampus work location. Terminal, 24 month appointment This position hasthe possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointmentbased on need and/or funding.
