Job Title: Furniture Repair Technician Department: Production & Skilled Trades Country: United States of America State/Province: North Carolina City: Raleigh Full/Part Time: Full time Job Summary: Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for shaping, finishing, and refinishing damaged furniture or new high-grade furniture to specified color or finish. Provides guidance and suggestions on product returns, procedures and solutions to ensure high quality services are provided to customers and vendors. Incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility of scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes, but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts. Job Description: Key Responsibilities: u2022 Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material, and equipment needs u2022 Mix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades u2022 Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws u2022 Examine furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration u2022 Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers u2022 Maintain the inventory for parts necessary for the installation and maintenance of appliances so they are stocked with sufficient quantities and reordered when depleted u2022 Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to setup for product repair u2022 Compile reports regarding returns activities and provide guidance/ suggestions returns information for specific product categories within a merchandising department. Provide procedures and solutions to ensure high quality services are provided to customers and vendors u2022 Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures u2022 Maintain inventory records and reporting on inventory levels and activity for product repair u2022 Receive, issue and store supplies and equipment; processing customer turn-ins; inspecting, verifying and counting supplies and equipment for accuracy, overall condition and accountability u2022 Track and maintain quality assurance metrics and documentation, such as defect densities and open defect counts; assist in generating problem resolutions and reporting u2022 Perform check-ins and check-outs; verify order completeness and inspect for damage Qualifications: Minimum Qualification: + 18 years or older with 1-2 years on-the-job experience with material handling, upholstery, and woodworking and/or military equivalent; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed. Preferred Qualification: + High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years on-the-job experience with material handling, upholstery and woodworking AND/OR Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences: + Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move furniture/appliance up to 100 pounds) + Ability to wear appropriate work attire (masks, respirator, gloves, footwear) + Experience in warehouse distribution + Experience in material handling + Follow arrow on a hand truck + Willingness to work flexible workdays and hours + Willingness to take part in cross training and aiding other aspects of depot duties outside of your own daily tasks + Upholstery skills, woodworking skills + Time Management Skills This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship. Compensation: Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Companyu2019s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
