Some evenings and weekends possible.Job SummaryPosition Description: This is a 12-month full time duration position in the Department of Veterinary Scienceu2019s Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center and the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at the University of Kentucky. The Departmentu2019s website is The successful candidate will contribute to the department mission by engaging in mentored research that address equine musculoskeletal issues with transdisciplinary collaborations. The appointee will have 100% research commitment and will be administratively responsible to the fellowship chair professor. The appointee will be mentored by Dr. Bruno Menarim and work in collaborative team composed of other faculty and clinical collaborators (Laura Kennedy, James MacLeod, Emma Adam, Jennifer Janes, Allen Page and Katherine Garret) as pertinent. Key Responsibilities and Research Focus: u2022 Perform mentored research in musculoskeletal sciences using innovative approaches to investigate, manage, and/or prevent musculoskeletal injuries or disease. u2022 Research areas will include but not be limited to current and emerging musculoskeletal health threats, enhancing epidemiological surveillance and monitoring capabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate equine musculoskeletal health risks.u2022 Collect and process data within the disciplines of epidemiology, diagnostic imaging and pathology, using state-of-the-art technologies. u2022 Write and submit at least one manuscript under the mentorship of supporting faculty and adjunct collaborators. Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesDoes this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/Experienceu2022 Clinical experience (internship or equivalent) including work in an area pertinent to the equine surgery and/or sports medicine is desirable, but not a requisite for the position. u2022 Good skills in communication and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and engage with diverse backgrounds. u2022 Experience with epidemiology and data analysis is a valuable skillset.
