What to ExpectAs a Commercial Field Service Technician with the Commercial Crew-Based Energy Team, you will play a critical role in supporting Tesla's mission by performing maintenance and troubleshooting across commercial energy products, including Solar PV Systems, Energy Storage (Powerpacks, Megapack 1, Megapack 2, Megapack XL), and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. In this entry-level, crew-based position, you will collaborate across the Tesla organization to diagnose issues, ensure operational success, and maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.This role requires 100% travel within the contiguous United States (lower 48 states), with flexibility for weekend work, overtime, and overnight stays.What You'll DoPerform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and systemsAssist in identifying and troubleshooting basic mechanical or electrical issuesFollow maintenance schedules, checklists, and safety proceduresDocument completed work, inspections, and repairsCollaborate with senior technicians on repairs and maintenance tasksAssist in the layout and assembly of solar modules, arrays, mounting hardware, and electrical equipmentOrganize trucks and storage containers for the upcoming day, ensuring neatness and readiness, safely handle company funds and submit accurate biweekly expense reportsWhat You'll BringMinimum 2 years' experience PV equipment and installation, preferably commercial or utility scale and with extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment and have the ability to read electrical plan sets and equipment manualsPrevious experience working with power/hand tools, electrical equipment, and ability to navigate numerous computer applications and technology independentlyAbility to work at great heights, work in extreme environments, perform prolonged periods of repetitious duties, lift at least 50 lbs. frequently and work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.), these positions require working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairsCapable of performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day and have the ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.Ability to climb and utilize equipment on site including various ladders rated for 300 lbs. and must meet OSHA fall protection standards for at height work limited at 300 lbs. and must also be able to meet equipment standards for fall protection (harness, anchor, ropes, etc.) with a maximum capacity of 310 lbs.Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time with short notice with flexibility to work on weekends and/or overtime along with overnight stay to support Tesla's critical missionMust have compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities.
