Summary The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, managing and evaluating the medical center's patient safety program. The PSM builds and implements safety systems, promotes a culture of safety, reviews safety events, performs risk scoring, leads Root Cause Analysis teams, serves as the facility point of contact for Patient Safety Alerts and Advisories, and acts as liaison with the National Center for Patient Safety. Responsibilities Plans, organizes, develops, manages and evaluates the medical center's patient safety program Reviews all reported safety events and performs risk scoring Severity Assessment Code classification of events to determine necessary actions Leads Root Cause Analysis RCA teams and provides consultative services to other RCA leaders Tracks RCA actions in the RCA database Safety Program Optimization Tool and provides RCA training Serves as the resident expert on confidentiality rules as they apply to the patient safety process Serves as the facility point of contact for Patient Safety Alerts and Advisories, including tracking system actions Conducts periodic environmental patient safety inspections Demonstrates leadership in publicizing and promoting patient safety successes and activities Acts as the point of contact for facility patient safety issues with the National Center for Patient Safety NCPS Applies the nursing process with close supervision while delivering fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned Veterans Tracks and reports safety-related data VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Telework: Ad hoc may be authorized.
