Essential functions (job duties): Wayne State University Law Schoolu2019s Disability Law Clinic (u201cDLCu201d) and Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic (u201cLAPCu201d) (u201cWayne Lawu201d) is seeking applications from Class of 2025 graduates of an ABA Counsel-accredited law school for a one calendar year Post-Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship offers an opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience working with both Wayne Stateu2019s Disability Law Clinic (u201cDLCu201d) and Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic (u201cLAPCu201d). The fellowu2019s responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: Legal Research Assistance Assistance for preparing and representing clients in a variety of legal matters that include health insurance, housing, employee benefits, life planning, and public benefits Interviewing and counseling clients Data Entry/Management Student & Community Engagement Special Projects The fellow will work closely with the directors of the DLC and LAPC and their staff. The fellow will work on client matters for DLC and LAPC. This includes the responsibilities listed above, as well as additional responsibilities as assigned that are viewed to be in line with the position. Qualifications: J.D. from a Counsel-accredited law school is required. Bar passage is not required. The applicant must be a Class of 2025 graduate from a Counsel-accredited law school and have an interest in working in a law school clinic setting. Candidates must be able to exercise independent judgment; responsibly manage multiple projects; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and complete assignments with minimal supervision. The candidate will start on or before March 9, 2026; the fellowship will last at least one calendar year from the candidateu2019s start date. Applicants are required to submit (1) a letter of interest describing the candidateu2019s interest in the fellowship position, (2) a resume, (3) a law school transcript, and (4) the names and contact information of three individuals prepared to provide professional references.
