Laboratory Assistant - Lab Muhlenberg

Summary Job Summary Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory. Job Responsibilities Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and transporting specimens. Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Orders supplies as needed. Confirms eligibility, verifies insurance benefits, referrals, and authorization for identified patient registrations. Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner. Performs clerical duties including supply distribution, answering phones, data entry, and filing. May perform venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection consistently using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures. May assist in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner. May perform waived Laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards. Qualifications High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire No experience required No licensure/certification/registration required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
