This is not a clipboard position—you’ll be in the field leading crews, coordinating materials and subcontractors, solving problems in real time, and ensuring jobs are completed on time, on budget, and to spec. The ideal candidate is a field-savvy leader who takes ownership, drives productivity, and isn’t afraid to get their boots dirty. Learn more at Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & ProductionLead daily field operations for asphalt paving and excavation crewsSet and manage daily/weekly production goalsEnsure grade control, quality workmanship, and spec complianceTroubleshoot field issues quickly and independentlyEnforce safety and crew discipline on siteProject ManagementManage scheduling, sequencing, and manpower planningCoordinate materials, equipment, trucking, and subcontractorsTrack job cost, productivity, and budget-to-actualsIdentify issues early and adjust plans as neededCommunication & CoordinationAct as primary liaison with owners, GCs, engineers, and inspectorsLead pre-job and post-job meetingsManage scope changes and change orders effectivelyEstimating & Planning SupportAssist with takeoffs and production input during pre-bidProvide field-based feedback to improve estimating accuracySupport development of realistic schedules and bid strategiesAccountability & ResultsDeliver jobs on schedule and within gross margin targetsImprove crew consistency and minimize reworkDevelop team members and uphold performance standards Qualifications Experience7-15+ years in asphalt paving and/or excavationProven background as a foreman or superintendentExperience running full jobs, not just tasksStrong background in asphalt, earthwork, utilities, or gradingTechnical SkillsReads and understands construction plans and specsExpert in grade control, slopes, production rates, and crew planningFamiliar with GPS/machine control (preferred)Experience with job cost tracking and basic scheduling toolsLeadership TraitsCalm, respected, decisive leader who holds teams accountableHands-on, leads from the front—not the truck seatCan coach, push, and perform under pressureMindsetOwner’s mentality—focused on profit, quality, and peopleThrives in fast-paced, high-growth environmentsTakes initiative and responsibility—no excuses, no chaos Preferred (Not Required) Experience in growing contractors ($5M-$30M+)Exposure to managing multiple jobs simultaneouslyEstimating or bid review involvementCDL or OSHA 30 certification Benefits Medical InsurancePaid Time Off Paid Parental LeaveRetirement Savings ProgramWeekly Pay CyclePaid Training and CertificationsSafety Equipment ProvidedReferral Bonus ProgramPrevailing Wage Projects Schedule Full-TimeMonday-Friday, with overtime as needed Work Location Onsite — Based in Minnesota Equal Employment Opportunity We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
