The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.- Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.Pima County is seeking an experienced cultural resources professional tolead its Cultural Resources Compliance and Regulatory Programs.Reporting to the Pima County Historic Preservation Officer, thisposition oversees County-wide compliance with federal, state, and localpreservation laws and supervises staff responsible for regulatoryreview, documentation, and coordination across departments and projects.This role ensures that cultural resources are appropriately identified,evaluated, and protected in alignment with the National HistoricPreservation Act, the Arizona Antiquities Act, and Board of Supervisorspolicy. The successful candidate will bring strong regulatory expertise,supervisory experience, and a commitment to public service andstewardship.Manages Pima Countys Cultural Resources Compliance and RegulatoryPrograms, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and localpreservation laws, regulations, and policies across all countydepartments and projects. This role is responsible for enforcingcompliance standards, supervising cultural resources compliance programstaff, and managing the regulatory review process for all departmentsand units of Pima County. Reporting to the Pima County HistoricPreservation Officer (PCHPO), the Cultural Resources Compliance Managerensures the countys adherence to the National Historic Preservation Act,Arizona State Historic Preservation laws, and local ordinances/policiesto protect and manage cultural resources in both public and privatesector developments.This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt fromthe Pima County Merit System Rules.Essential Functions:As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, thisclassification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge,skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and isnot a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed byincumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on thedepartments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbentby the supervisor.- Supervises and mentors compliance program staff by assigning tasks, tracking progress, providing professional development, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure effective regulatory compliance;- Oversees County-wide compliance with federal, state, and local preservation laws including the National Historic Preservation Act and the Arizona Antiquities Act for both County projects and private sector activities;- Assists in implementing Pima County Board of Supervisors Policy C3.17 requiring cultural resource protection, ensuring documentation and reporting accuracy;- Manages compliance databases and GIS mapping systems, maintaining accurate and secure records;- Assists the Historic Preservation Officer by serving as a point of contact between Pima County and local, state, and federal agencies, tribal governments, and the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission;- Presents County projects for regulator review and oversees Historic Zone and Landmark Zone designation applications;- Advises developers, planners, and architects on integrating historic preservation into their projects;- Supports educational initiatives and partnerships to enhance public awareness of cultural resource compliance and preservation.Minimum Qualifications:Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) from an accredited college oruniversity in history, archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation,or a closely related field as defined by the department head at the timeof recruitment and three years experience in cultural resourcesmanagement, historic preservation or a related field as determined bythe department head at the time of recruitment which includes two yearsof supervisory and/or managerial experience AND meets professionalqualifications for either a Project Director or Principal Investigatorper rul
