Job Description This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this position has primary responsibility for supporting the lifeguard team by recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising. Qualifications Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen certifications. 3-5 years Aquatics experience Experience in supervising and leading others Essential Functions Maintain and account for all equipment in program areas and ensure proper use of all YMCA equipment and facilities. Take appropriate corrective action with pool contaminations and reporting to the Aquatics Director and/or Executive Director the nature of contamination. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and schedule lifeguards at the branch. Provide a safe swim environment for all members while keeping all lifeguard certifications up to date. Provide lifeguard coverage at branch when needed. Ensure all patrons are safe in pool. Maintain current CPR, AED, Emergency Oxygen, First Aid, Lifeguard, RI Waterfront Lifeguard and certifications. Develop and maintain relationships with YMCA members. Responsible for all pool safety procedures. Will assist with rehearsing safety drills during orientation week and every session to ensure their efficiency. Responsible for rehearsing safety drills at the branch Will assist with special events and activities when necessary. Follow all lifeguard protocols as determined by the YMCA and supervisor. Other duties as assigned.
